How to program (enter code to control TV) Sony BDP-S370 Blu-ray Remote Control (RMT-B107P)
If you have bought a Sony BDP-S370 Blu-ray player and are wondering how to program the remote to control a non-Sony TV, you will be disappointed to find that the instruction manual contains no information on how to do this at all. Although it does contain a list of TV codes at the back.
After much googling and entering similar remote model numbers on the US Sony support website, (the UK support site doesn't recognise the remote control model number at all) I found some instructions. However, they were quite misleading as instructed to enter a tv code using the arrow buttons.
The solution is actually quite simple:
- Hold down the TV I/O (small green button) on the remote.
- While holding that down, enter you TV's code (found at the back of the instruction manual)
- Release the green button.
And that's it. You should now be able to control your TV with your BD player remote. It's such a pity that Sony didn't include that in the manual.

WWT London Wetland Centre Wildlife Film / Documentary
You can also view this in HD here.
Over the last few weeks I've been working on this project for the WWT London Wetland Centre in Barnes.
It was a great project to be involved with and I'm really pleased with the results.
Filming luckily coincided with my having a Vinten 3AS tripod on loan from them so it was a good opportunity to put that through it's paces. It performed well, even though the setup I was running was a bit heavy for the spring in the head. Vinten are kindly sending me a stronger spring to try out though.
Most of the wildlife shots in the film were shot using my Sigma 100-300 F4 lens on my Sony EX3. I used the Adaptimax adaptor to couple the two. The landscape shots were all using the standard EX3 lens.
The London Wetland Centre are showing the film in their Art Gallery so if you're down there check it out!

Great crested grebe courtship display, mating and nesting
As part of my involvment with the WWT wetland nature reserve in London I was lucky enough to film the extrodianry display of these breeding Great Crested Grebes.
It was the first time I've seen this, let alone film it, and was thrilled that the light was so good. It was great to witness the whole sequence of the initial display, followed by the collecting and showing-off of weeds and then nest building and mating. It all took place during a few hours in the morning.
I used the Vinten 3AS tripod, that Vinten have kindly lent me, which is defaintely a big step up from my old head for these kinds of zoom levels.

Filmed black tailed godwits and avocets at Bowling Green Marsh nature reserve, Topsham
On Saturday (20th March) I filmed these black tailed godwits, avocets, widgeon, grey heron, and a little egret at the Bowling Green Marsh RSPB nature reserve in Topsham. I'm shooting the footage for a wildlife documentary I am making about the Exe estuary and surrounding nature reserves. This sequence is just roughly cut together and isn’t meant to be viewed as much more than a selection of clips from a morning's filming.
I used my new Sigma 100-300 F4 lens with my Sony EX3 to get these shots. I was very lucky to get to the reserve and find the black tailed godwits about 15 feet away from the hide! A flock of bar tailed godwits were also on the reserve, visible in the first shot of this sequence.
