Dog mess in bags - issues
A mini-documentary I shot in Ashclyst Forest about a minority of dog owners who inexplicably leave their dog mess in conspicuous plastic bags. View in HD on Vimeo.

PASS HER BY
A short film we shot over 3 days in Ross on Wye. It's a short story with a twist that explores the unlikely relationship between a homeless trespasser and a lonely housewife.

WIND IN THE WILLOWS
This is a clip from a 50 minute film we made of a live theatrical performance of Wind in the Willows by Tale Valley Community Theatre. The play was performed 3 times which enabled us to get a different angle each time. Unfortunately the A30 was rather near by which is noticable in the audio.

ORGANIC FARMING DOCUMENTARY*
A work-in-progress title sequence for an Organic Farming documentary project.

NEW TALKING HEADS*
Tale Valley Community Theatre created 18 short theatrical plays and commissioned us to create a DVD version of the performances. The perforamnces were all monologue based and editing was deliberatly kept to an absolute minimum. Many of the 15 minute performances were shot in one continuous take. Cinematic interest was created by using our track and jib. This clip contains small sections from some of the performances.

LIMITED COMPANY BAND*
A promotional reel for local wedding / function band, ‘Limited Company’.

* These projects are slightly lower image quality because they were filmed using our old camera.

Other Work

I also do a lot of local work producing DVDs of school plays as well as having worked on other projects in the past for Rough Guides, Burnside Telecom and Mike Wye & Associates. If you'd like to discuss working with me for any project ranging from training/promotional films to documentaries please get in touch.

Testimonials

John Somers - Tale Valley Community Theatre

Ben Vallack of Phototropic was involved in making a DVD of eighteen original monologues which were transformed from live performances by Tale Valley Community Theatre, through storyboarding, to filmic versions. I was greatly impressed by his planning and consultation with me and others involved. In spite of the very long hours of filming, his professionalism and dedication to ‘getting it right’ was very impressive. I and my colleagues are delighted with the result and the DVDs are selling well. Thanks to Ben we now have a valuable and high-quality record of the theatre company’s creativity.

We used Phototropic to shoot and edit our promotional DVD. We are delighted with the results and hugely impressed not just with the professionalism and attention to detail shown but also with the creative direction and ideas Ben gave us throughout the process. We would thouroughly recommend using Phototropic and would definitely use Ben again.‎

Mike Wye & Associates

Just a brief note to thank you for filming and producing our latest training DVD. Once again we were impressed with both your enthusiasm for our project and professionalism in creating an attractive DVD that has been an excellent advertisement for our company and all at a very reasonable price. We continue to get very positive feedback from our customers regarding its ease of use and effectiveness in conveying our approach to restoration.

Dan & Theresa Godfrey

We are so delighted and amazed with the DVD Ben produced of our wedding day. He really went beyond what we were expecting and produced a beautifully edited DVD for us. He was so discrete that we still can't work out where he was filming from! A truly professional job done all around. Thank you very much!
